While wandering around the Internet, some of you may have come across the following video content: it begins as an ordinary, unremarkable video. But suddenly, the frame of the video freezes, the faces on the video turn into frightful grimaces, the image turns red and black, and noises in the background make you regret the existence of your ears.
Videos of this format belong to a separate genre and are known as Void Videos, Void Memes or Glitch horror.

On the preview of a Void Meme you can often see a creepy frame taken from the video itself. However, sometimes you may come across a video with an unremarkable picture on the preview, also taken from the video.
The title of a meme can be anything, but it must have the “Void meme” inscription. Also, some creators create titles with the Zalgo font.
And … how did this unusual genre come about? On July 26, 2017, a video titled “hey apple. what? ＶＯＩＤ．” by the author Hibiki Kisaragi was uploaded. After that, the genre went boom.
The video features 2 characters, an orange and an apple. These are characters from a well-known comedy web series “The annoying Orange”. According to the plot of the video, orange tries to draw the attention of the apple. After he succeeds, the appearance of the orange becomes uncanny, black and red shades cover the image, and a weird noise starts playing in the background. “VOID”, says orange in a creepy voice.
Currently this video has 82000 views. After that, Hibiki posted 13 more Void Videos, but none of them managed to repeat the success of the first one.
After this video, some people got inspired to make similar creepy Void Videos. Some people have dedicated themselves and their social media pages to this genre, such as YouTube channel by the name of timtam60.mp5, or the Instagram account unexpected.exe. The Void Meme pages on Reddit are also worth mentioing.
And so, now you know what Void Memes are. But what to do if you get inspired by this? How to make your own Void Meme? There are plenty of videos on this topic on the Internet.

But, despite this, I will give you a little instruction on how to create a video of this genre. I must say that this article will not feature super accurate information (such as ”where to click to do something”), because I myself am not an expert.
Here we go:
1. Select a video that we you wish to turn into a Void. There are no recommendations here, the video can be absolutely anything.
2. Go to any program for video editing and select a fragment that you’d like to change. Take a screenshot of a chosen frame and go to the photo editor.
3. In the photo editor, focus on black and red colors, and twist the contrast of the image.
4. Add all sorts of creepy details to the photo, such as blood, teeth, demonic eyes, etc. You can also try to deform the shapes of the heads and bodies. Try dragging, adding or removing limbs. The main thing here is not to overdo it. Make it scary, but not as if your creature came out of “Spore” video game.
5. After the picture is ready, go back to the video editor and insert it into the excerpt from which you took it. Then, stretch the image along the time lapse bar so that the static image lasts for a few seconds.
6. Go to the audio track and cut it of from the moment when all the terrible things are supposed begin, Between the resulting two tracks, we have to insert our own sound. These should either be eerie sounds that will make the viewer tense up, such as a small hum or some kind of melody, or they can be very loud sounds, screams or noises.
7.Technically, you can stop at the 6th step, but to further improve your work, you could make a few additional pieces. For example, choose a different moment in the video in which you will do the same work with 1–6 elements. You can add glitches and all sorts of effects to the video, experiment with the audio track, making glitches or trying to play with the tones. In general, don’t be afraid to experiment.
